Data
Automatic Transfer
Your address, birthdate, place of birth etc. are collected by the Studentensekretariat when you immatriculate. Several times per semester, they are transferred into SignUp.This is why there is no option for you to change your address or name yourself (e.g. after marriage). You will have to report these changes to the Studentensekretariat.
Changeable Data
An exception from the rule (that changes have to be made via the Studentensekretariat) is that you can enter your email address, mobile phone number and homepage, if you want to, and you can also upload a photograph of yourself. You need an URZ-password in order to change your data.
The idea is to enable the Institutssekretariat to reach you.
Email, Mobile Phone, Homepage
In order to change your email address, mobile phone number or homepage, please click "Personal Data" after login. After entereing your information in the corresponding fields, click "change," where you are prompted for your matriculation number and password.Upload Photo
Only JPEG-format photos (.jpg or .jpeg) of a size less than 15 kB can be stored.Click "Personal Data," then "Upload Photo". Pick the photo you want to store and click "Upload."
Groups
Under "Personal Data" you can also see what group you are in (this concerns only students in their first four semesters). The group mapping is renewed each term.Protection of Privacy
Only the Institutssekretariat and you yourself have access to the data stored in SignUp. Your personal data or any other information stored in SignUp is not sold or made accessible to parties outside Heidelberg Universtiy.Exception: data about credits you passed are sent to the Landesprüfungsamt
Only the Dean's office can access all your data; to a lesser degree, institutes also have access (but only to credits that they issued themselves).
Data that is generated through your interaction with SignUp (times of log-in, IP-numbers, hard- and software information) might be used for purposes of technical diagnoses; it will not be used for any other purposes.
